Our BUILDING PROCESS

We understand building a home from the ground up is a completely new experience for many people and can be somewhat overwhelming. However, as with anything new, once you know how to get started and the basics of how things work, you’ll see the process isn’t difficult at all. In fact, we hope building your new home will be an exciting and rewarding process!

Secure Financing

If you haven’t already met with a personal banker to discuss your pre-approval and pricing options, this is a good place to start. Once you have these numbers in mind, choosing a home plan which fits within your price range becomes much easier. We can work with your bank or can recommend one from past satisfied customers.

Choose Your Site

Some customers come to us with a lot or land they’ve already purchased. And other customers come to us for help on finding a site to build. Either way, C&M Home Builders will visit the proposed site to discuss and offer placement suggestions for the building, as well as to go over the beginning site work.

Find a Custom Home Plan

Building a new home comes with lots of choices. If you have already selected blue prints of the house you want, great! On the other hand, you may only have ideas of things you would like in your home but no clear plan. We show you hundreds of plans, customize them to your liking, and have the final blue prints drawn, free of charge.

Sign the Contract

Once the price and house details are decided, we are ready to sign a contract to build. The contract provides a complete price to build your home with no surprises at the end. While other builders may leave items out initially to make the price look better only to add cost later, we want the houses we build to come in at, or under, budget. If additonal expenses come up because of our oversight, we will pay for it.

Construction

Next comes construction! During this step you can be as involved as you would like. If you choose, you can request our advice on choosing house finishes from plumbing to hardware. Throughout the construction process, we meet with you at key times to make selections for the next phase. We also provide you with detailed spending reports so you can see exactly where your money is being spent.

After Construction

Once your new custom home is complete and nearly ready for you to move in, we meet for a final walk through. This is a great opportunity to address any last minute questions or concerns you may have. We will not walk away from the project until you are completely satisfied. Since about 90% of our business is based on referrals, we want to make sure you are completely satisfied with your new home.
